My career at Graphic Design West Midlands
I was still a college student when I first heard about Graphic Design West Midlands. My uncle was a writer and he had a cover of one of his books designed by them. He always spoke well of the company. I was too young to apply for any position there but my dream was to become a famous graphic designer. Anyway, at the same time our college started a competition for people interested in web or graphic design. It was a small college, not really famous, and it had been created only a couple of years before. They were looking for somebody who could design a logo for our school. Nearly forty-five students took part in the competition so it was not an easy task. I designed a logo which consisted of a symbol of our town, a black crow, and some elements which could be easily associated with an education institution. And you know what? I won! Two years later, when I was applying for a position of a junior designer at iphone app development, I did not know what to include in my CV. I was not an experienced designer, but I mentioned the fact that I was the one who created the logo of our college. They called me the next morning. The logo had already become recognisable and they later told me they had been actually trying to find me.
