Burnley v Birmingham City English Premier League

Two of the newly-promoted clubs meet at Turf Moor with the Clarets protecting a 100 per cent winning record on their own ground.

Burnley team news

Burnley have lost yet another player for an extended period after Jay Rodriguez was ruled out for three months with a fractured ankle ahead of the Clarets’ Barclays Premier League match against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Striker Rodriguez becomes the third of Owen Coyle’s players to be ruled out until Christmas in the last fortnight, with Martin Paterson and Chris McCann also both on the sidelines with knee injuries.

Fernando Guerro tweaked his hamstring and Kevin McDonald sustained a knee problem in a midweek reserve match, leaving both looking doubtful.

But club captain Steven Caldwell is in contention for a place in the starting line-up after playing for an hour in the same match.

Birmingham team news

Birmingham City are resigned to being without striker Christian Benitez.

Benitez is back home in Ecuador after being given compassionate leave after his father was injured in a car crash. Garry O’Connor is likely to deputise as the lone striker with Kevin Phillips on the bench.

Blues manager Alex McLeish is optimistic that Stuart Parnaby, Franck Queudrue and James McFadden will be available after injury, while Cameron Jerome should return from an ankle problem after the international break.

Bolton striker Johan Elmander is out of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League meeting with Spurs at the Reebok Stadium.

Elmander sustained a hamstring injury in Monday’s reserve match that will keep him sidelined for at least 10 days, thereby also probably ruling him out of Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers with Denmark and Albania next week.

Spurs team news

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was back in full training on Friday and manager Harry Redknapp will decide on Saturday whether to pitch him in wearing a protective dressing on his two dislocated fingers.

Barcelona Vs Dynamo Kiev Champions League Match

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by on 29-09-2009

Barcelona enter the match on the back of 2:0 win over Malaga and they are expected to continue the winning run against Dynamo. The Ukrainians won their league games with the second string line-up as boss Gazzaev rested most of the first team regulars for the match at Camp Nou.

Ibra ready for the new challenges

Two weeks ago, Barcelona played a very good game away to Inter even though the Catalans had to settle for the goalless draw. Guardiola was certainly happy with team’s performance against Inter, who defended in numbers throughout the game. In meantime, Barca continued winning games in Primera but they will still have to play a very good game in order to beat Dynamo. Ibrahimovic and Messi will certainly pose a big threat for the visiting defence and they will be difficult to contain. The Swede has recovered from injury and showed he was still in very good form by scoring against Malaga, thus odds of 1.80 offered by Stan James on Ibra to score look really tempting.

Barcelona didn’t play a lot of games at Camp Nou this season but they were very impressive in the only two home games, scoring 8 and conceding just two goals. Dynamo’s fierce rivals Shakhtar were the only team that beat Barca at Camp Nou last season but only because Guardiola had fielded a second string line-up in that match. Barca tend to score early on and thus put a tie beyond doubt and we expect the same approach in this game as well. Blue Square is paying 2.40 on Barcelona to score two in the first period and it would be a shame for such good odds to go to waste.

UFC 103 Live Video Streaming

The show started with clips of Vitor Belfort’s first few UFC fights. They also showed highlights of his three  fights against Randy Couture.

He was only 19 years old when he made his UFC debut.

Belfort won the UFC light heavyweight title in their second fight after one of Couture’s eyes got cut in the first round. Couture won the  third fight to reclaim his title.

Belfort was not focused for the second and third fights with Couture because his sister was missing in Brazil  His sister’s whereabouts are still unknown to this day. He lost his focus and lost the passion to train and fight.

He reconnected with his old rival, Couture, and joined his gym in Las Vegas to train. Belfort has now won four consecutive fights in a row. His last win was a first round knockout of Matt Lindland. He claims that he is now motivated again and fighting for a purpose.

Shawn Tompkins, his trainer, says that Belfort will become a UFC champion once again, and that there is no way that Rich Franklin can keep up with Belfort’s speed.

Rich Franklin taught himself submission fighting from instructional tapes. He is a former math teacher.

Franklin won 20 of his first 21 fights and became UFC middleweight champion. He was a big fan of Belfort’s before he became a MMA fighter himself. Franklin did not have his first MMA fight until he was 25 years old.

Matt Hume, Franklin’s trainer, says that if you take Belfort out of his game, he does not adapt very well.

Franklin says, “I am not concerned about what Vitor is going to do in the ring. I’m concerned about what I’m going to do. If I execute the way I know that I can, and the way that I know that I should, then I’m going to win the fight.

Getafe vs Barcelona Primera Liga Match

Iniesta picked up an injury at the end of last season and was a serious doubt for the Champions League final against Manchester United.

The midfielder returned to star in that match, but was then sidelined for the whole of the summer and missed Spain’s Confederations Cup campaign.

Iniesta was also absent as Barcelona won the Spanish and European Supercups before the start of the domestic season.

Marquez, meanwhile, missed Barca’s run-in to the treble last season after he was injured in the Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Chelsea.

The Mexico captain returned in pre-season, but picked up a new injury and has taken much longer than expected to recover.

Both look set to start on the bench on Saturday in the second round of La Liga, with Guardiola loath to risk either player from the start.

Iniesta is a key player for Barcelona and will soon be expected to win back his first-team place, but the midfielder admits he is not ready to play 90 minutes following his long spell on the sidelines.

“I don’t see myself playing the 90 minutes, it’s a question of getting my rhythm back,” he said.

But the 25-year-old is thrilled just to be involved again.

“What I most wished for was to be with the team, spending time with them; that’s what I live for,” he said.

The midfielder says this summer has been his worst for a long time.

“It has been my worst summer in a long time, when it should have been the other way round.

“Having won everything and enjoyed that, I have had a bad time.

“But now I am on the verge of stepping out on the pitch, I celebrate it with more joy than usual.”

Marquez is set to have more of a fight to win back his first-team slot.
